Fredrica Craig

Painter

Fredrica Craig was born in Northern Ireland and educated at Belfast College of Art and the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.  In the 1970s she lived in Trinidad where she painted and exhibited with some of Trinidad’s foremost painters.

I particularly admire and am influenced by the paintings of Matisse and Cezanne and the American painter Richard Diebenkorn. After experimenting with various mediums, I find that I best express myself in oil on canvas. Painting, for me is a constant search. Although I begin my work with a plan in mind, I am happy to lose the original idea for the sake of the painting. Colour, shape and the balance of the finished work is vital.

Now living near Oxford she finds the beautiful countryside around Stonesfield a constant inspiration.

Previous exhibitions include: Bankside Gallery – London, Mall Gallery – London, Henley Festival – Henley, Cork Street Gallery – London, Merriscourt Gallery – Oxfordshire, Wren Gallery – Burford, Swann Gallery – Woodstock, Swann Gallery – Rye

Fredrica has an extensive portfolio of original work and giclée print editions are available – See Landscapes on Paper left exhibiting for the first time at ArtWeeks 2015.
